Where Amit Verma Came From
Amit is loosely based on myself as a middle schooler, though I was less aware of what was going on around me. I was mostly just awkward and wanted to play all the time. I wanted to write about that universal feeling of being somewhere in the middle — not the most popular, not the least popular — just…trying. Jackie was a real dog who used to handaround in our block.
